Back in the 90s I bought a Medicine Woman Terot Deck; while reading the book about the deck much of it made a lot of sense to me and I felt the connection with the information; however, the readings I have done held absolutely no meaning to me, it was all confusion...I always thought that the Terot was universal of archetype. Do different decks identify differently? Or am I just not able to read the Terot cards myself?

Some decks do read differently than others. For the most part that is either because of the energy of the cards, the way the cards speak, or what kind of deck it is. For example decks based on the crowely Thoth deck will read somewhat differently than those based on the rider Waite style of deck. There are also untraditional decks(decks with the standard tarot set up, but aren't based on either the Thoth deck or the rw) that would have their way of reading. If you have the same medicine woman deck I have it would partially fall under the last caregory.
Also, some people prefer to use their own meanings rather than those given in the book or a combination of the given meanings and personal meanings
