It is completely possible. Here's a simple thing I've used:
When you're home alone, go into your room and make sure it is dark and absolutely quiet. Lay down and start deep breathing to put yourself into a relaxed state.
Next, start thinking of memories. Start with a memory from a week ago, then to a month, three months, and so on. When you get to when you were born, keep pushing. For me, I felt a wall almost trying to keep me from going back further. Visualise pushing through the wall and going into your past life.
