Alchemy- Potions & Poison
By:
This is a thread I am making for the sake of talking
about some of the many recipes in alchemy for making
potions and poison. I'm not talking about the kind of
alchemy where a few scientists mix together chemicals,
more like mixing together a few natural ingredients to
make potions or poisons. If you feel like posting a
recipe, then please go right on ahead. If you would rather
talk about a few recipes, herbal remedies and elixirs, potions,
poisons, or just herbs, well, then that's what I'm here for!

The juices of an aloe plant
To make a moonlight healing potion

Petals from a white rose
A pleasant aura
the full moon
a glass vial

Mix the juices of an aloe plant together with petals
from a white rose, and then leave
it under the light of the full moon for five hours.
Send an aura of a wish to heal to the mixture.
pour the mixture into a glass vial, and seal the vial.
leave the vial under the full moon for another hour.

There are many herbs and fungi that have healing properties; and many that are poisonous. The ancient witches used willow bark and meadowsweet for healing.Because they are rich in Salicylic Acid; Aspirin.
And there is no reason to "make" a poison. The wild herb Aconite is deadly; and there are many others!

I can think of several sane reasons to make a poison, mostly as a shelf piece or to scare naughty children (of course keep it on a shelf far taller than said children!).

Yep. Sounds about right. If a kid gets a hold of poison, it never ends well. Though I wouldn't use it to scare children.

You know saying alchemy is quite wrong because everything in alchemy is in order to turn something else in to gold historically speaking

Yeah... as a parent, let me please advise you NEVER show poison to your kids to threaten them. They will get into it one day no matter where you put it. If you do need to keep poison around, lock it in a cabinet with the key hidden. There are also certain plants you shouldn't keep around the house if you have children as well.

As for potion, I made an oil last new moon I tested recently. Drives men crazy.

- Olive oil (I used EVOO but that's up to you)
- Rose oil
- Rosemary
- Tazo Rest tea (cheap and has rose hips and valerian root in it)
- Ground Cinnamon

Mix together and warm. I used a wax warmer and made the house smell great. Remove, bottle, and then strain a week later. Put a few dabs on your skin at pulse points before leaving the house. You'll get some attention from the opposite sex.

Alchemists did not try to change base metal into gold. That's a myth. They used to say things like that to keep their practises secret. One the great Alchemists was Sir Isaac Newton, and he wasn't so stupid as to try to get gold from Lead!
