Pagan and Pregnant
I am an eclectic wiccan who about 16 days ago found out she was pregnant. For those of you out there who have had children (or are having a child) what measures did you take or are taking from a spiritual standpoint. What helped you?

Pregnant Yoga, Meditation, Chant, and Natal Hypnotherapy (CDs can be found online). For my first, my daughter, I was 20 and I was an idiot, I did absolutely nothing but hibernate. For my son, I wanted a natural birth and I wanted to really embrace the entire process. It was so much more fulfilling and I really feel like a stronger person. Men can't birth babies! When my daughter was born, I was a happy mom, when my son was born it was a spiritual experience!! I was so overwhelmed with joy and I felt such a stronger bond with him immediately.

I suggest Calm Birth by Robert Bruce Newman. Changed my whole view on childbirth! There is a CD for that too, but I didn't try it (I borrowed the book from the library and it didn't have the CD). When you read the description, you'll know why it applies to pagan mamas!

Stay away from doing any high energy magick, folk is fine, but ritual work can be dangerous for the little bit.

I wore an amulet at all times. And I searched all over for a good "mother goddess" mantra, and the one that really made me feel great was Acchi Mantra by Lisa Thiel on YouTube. Listened to it over and over and sang with it. It's gorgeous.

Surround yourself with beautiful sounds and beautiful sights. When I woke up at 5am from insomnia, I took advantage of seeing the sun rise and welcoming the day...then I would go back to sleep, but still! =D

You can PM me anytime. I've been through it twice. I have a 7 year old and a 6 month old.

Have a blessed 8 moons!

"Spiritual Midwifery" by Ina May Gaskin, is a fab read. Helped me with both of mine, they were easy and wonderful experiences.

Thank you both! I will certainly look into those. I also just got a book called Pagan Pregnancy by Arin Murphy Hiscock.
