Sister Coven
By:
While looking over the many individual covens here, I noticed that many covens list other covens as "sister covens" (I hope this sentence doesn't confuse anyone!). I assume that a Sister Coven would be an associated group, but how involved are these covens? i.e. Do they typically collaborate? Are members welcomed into sister covens? Etc.
I did not see any forum posts that answered my questions after an admittedly quick search, so I thought that I'd create one.

From my experience, when two covens on this website decide to become 'sister covens' they enter a mutual agreement to aid each other when needed, to share information, and to increase their public reputation. A few times I have known covens to do group rituals together, but this is quite rare.

Typically when this happens, the leadership or council members of each coven will create another account to allow them to be in both covens, which makes for easy communication.

It's mostly just a website formality thing. :)

Thanks! That answers my questions!

Out of curiosity, can you give an example of something that a coven would need help in?

I'm glad I could help. Here are a few examples:

  • New Leadership - Covens frequently change leadership, and most of the time the newly appointed leaders do not have experience leading a coven. In this situation, a sister coven's leaders may offer advice to them and help them transition into leading a coven.
  • Inactivity - Unfortunately, some covens are constantly plagued with inactivity and in serious cases the coven can be decommissioned and left without leadership. In this case, a sister coven might try to aid activity to prevent this.
  • General Issues - Just general issues that might arise.
