I meditate as often as I can, i try to do it at least once daily. I meditate in a lot of different ways, but I usually start with basic breathing and focusing my mind, trying to just clear my head of thoughts or distractions. This often takes time but you can't meditate without a clear mind.
then I usually do a method to bring myself into a trance, not moving or looking anywhere (if your eyes are open), just staring. sometimes I imagine going down a ladder, breathing in and out with each step until I feel that I can fall backwards, out of my physical body and into my spiritual one.
Once in the trance, I do whatever work i feel I should - self healing, cleansing, looking within, dealing with issues, talking to the divine, etc. and aftertime I pull myself back usually by moving my fingers and slowly opening my eyes. Some meditations last 10 minutes, some I've done for over a hour. It depends on you.
It'll be difficult at first, it always is. But don't get discouraged, keep trying. If you can only do it for five minutes, thats fine do as you feel comfortable until you can work your way up.
