i don't charge, mostly because it's a hobby and i'm not sure how to set up paypals on SoM, but i'd say 5$ is fair.

when i started out i was taught that getting compensation would cloud the readings, so i didn't want to charge. as i've gone on, and i wind up with a slew of readings, there should be some kind of exchange because you're putting your time and energy into doing a reading [and as odd as it sound you can feel drained after a couple] so some type of compensation sounds fair. commonly money, but i've known people who will do readings at a shop opening or some fair in exchange they get a book, or free admission, or something.

Recently I've been doing readings free for practice, but then I think I should soon charge for my readings when I feel that I am ready.

I think giving itemsinexchange for services is a wonderful idea. I think some people get too greedyand want to charge too muchforthe "gifts" they were given. I feel like if you offer your services not expecting much in return will not only suprise you when you do get paid a generous tip, it will also send much positive energy into the universe. Those good deeds wont go unpaid. Good things will come back to you. Also, it should not become a full time job. It is possible to work (to make a living...paying bills, ect) and do readings in spare time for the joy it brings to you and your client.Thats just my opinion, charge what feels right to you and what you feel you are worth. I personally won't pay an arm or leg for a card reading...but then again, I can read my own cards andpendulum.

I have an unfavorable view on the matter from what I've read so far. It is very touchy because I understand the need for compensation for time and effort. I am of the opinion that suggested donations or gifts are ok but not required. This means you couldn't make a living off of it so I'm not opposed to requiring payment, but it's not something I could do. I may, however, be bribed into doing a reading. I guess I'm just ranting now. Do what feels right for you!

I fail to see anything wrong with charging for your services. After all, you have to take care of yourself too. There is a problem when making money becomes more important than helping others and the work you are doing.

I do not charge money or any type of 'payment' for my reading. I normally just to it for the other person and my better knowledge of the reading technique.

If one is to do a tarot reading for someone in real life then a small cost should be accepted. For example if you have to travel and use your time to give someone a tarot reading, then surely its worth something. However online I reckon it should be just for free :)

It's up to the practitioner, really.

As for me, I don't charge for my services. The Norse Gods chose me, therefore, I feel I mustn't bank on their trust.

I am with the rest of the people that do not charge any money but I do not do any readings for free either. When I do readings I do it for an exchange like a feedback to the people who do not practice any sort of divination or chocolate. Now to the people who does do any divination then I exchange readings with them that way we both win. They choose their own method to read to me while I bring out my deck of cards. It is a win - win situation.

I honestly do not see any problems to ask payment for a reading as long as you are good at what you do and do not charge too much than it is all good.
