Number one rule in Magic: NO PERSONAL GAIN!!!
When casting a convincing spell, ask that the person you are seeking to convince be the recipient of the reward that comes by convincing them that you belong there.
Know in your heart that THEY will be better by the convincing, not you.
Blessed be

That's your belief. Magick is a tool to help you in life. However, it's not a fixing off all problems.

Spells to control another's Will, that will fail.

You can however manipulate others, like putting an illusion on others. However, controlling another's Will? Not going to happen.

Balanced Blessings

deannalynn , I would like to point out that it is simply your belief , and magick can be used for personal gain.

Yes , in my opinion , your ideal is very noble and upright , but you still shouldn't be imposing it on others.

Also , Zalkari , spells can be used to control another's will , but that takes alot of skill and power . Also a person's will would be constantly clashing with the spell and the spell will eventually fade and fail , but it can be done , no matter how short the time period would be.

Spells can control someone emotionally and Intellectualy, yes.
The idea that the spell will fail is only conceptual and personal. However, you won't just cast a spell and manage to convince someone or win an argument without getting to a Compromise.

Learn about how magic works.

No dear, I know what you want. Learn to talk and deal with life's problems. Changing the mind even partly is manipulating it, which you won't achieve.

I would need to know more. What are you trying to convince them to do?

Although, there are varying degrees, whenever you push a thought, emotion, or action upon someone, it is controlling. Even binding is controlling, in fact it is my belief that binding is the worst of all controlling spells because it is the magick equivalent of shackles/imprisonment. Yet it's seen as "light"...funny stuff. Anyway, you cannot do magick on someone for good or ill intentions without somehow controling them. Most people do not actually use their willpower, therefore, when you impress your will on them, their minds easily accept it. Most people are controlled by their subconscious 95% of waking life. This is why when we do something out of our usual routines, we get tired quickly. Our conscious mind has to actually work, oh my! And it wears us out if we aren't used to constant change and using our conscious mind more regularly. But this fact works to magick practioners advantage. People with strong wills are those with more conscience awareness and action. A short amount of time observing someone will tell you how conscious they truly are of their surroundings and actions, therefore how willful they are. Less will is more suseptable to the influencement of magick.
