The best place to start is the basics. These include:
*Belief in yourself and your abilities
*Circle Casting and Releasing
*Correspondences (colors, days, lunar phases, etc)
Please keep in mind that depending on who you talk to the basics can and often do differ. The above list are the basics that I studied when I first started practicing and are what I teach my students. You can add to this list or take subjects from it depending on your interest or what you feel you need or don't need to learn. However, I suggest studying all of them because you may very well need to know them in the future.
you might also try looking at Newbie Central, Tips, and Faqs on the Home tab. Those particular sections might also be helpful to you. There is also a thread in the General Info section called "Starting Out" that might also be of use to you.
Another good idea would be popping into chat, if you still have questions for which you couldn't find answers for on another section of the site, and asking some of the members there for assistance.
Covens are also a good idea. If you go to the Groups tab there are numerous covens that would be willing to help you. I would suggest reading over the coven profile pages and find one that you feel offers what it is you're looking for and then apply for membership.
When deciding on what type of magic you would be most interested in, I would suggest research and study. Write down what you think might interest you and then research it further to see it is something you would be interested in practicing. Look through the forums or ask around on the site if you still have further questions on a magic type.
