respect is truly key, even in the bible it states to not force conversion as well as to respect anothers religion. Witchcraft has been prosecuted by Christians for many years, long before Salem. personally i do not believe a christian practicing witchcraft is possible as the bible states to kill all witches. some extremists for the christian religion follow every word. though the bible is filled with misconceptions as well as loopholes, the religion is used as a prosecution excuse. the bible says "god" gave us free will so why does it put shackles on us. those aernt guidelines. look at it this way. a man can live his life straight, doesnt do a single bad thing in his life and dies. but he doesnt live as a christian. he lives as a wiccan/pagan/druid. because of 1 tiny thing like a change in beliefs a christian would condemn that man to hell. but if a christian who has murdered lied lusted and stole were to say "im sorry" to the christian "god" he would get into heaven.

i recently told my mother i was a wiccan, now this woman is no extremist. she doesnt go to church, say grace, or even pray. but she looked at me and said i made her roll in her grave.

if that exaggeration is the extent of prosecution for someone who isnt a hardcore christian, id shudder at what my gramma who is close minded christian. verryyy christian. i shudder at her reaction

This is where I find myself now. Not sure Wicca is the exact path but I am a Christian that doesnt want to let go of that yet believes magik/witchcraft to be real. Also that it can be used for good. I need some guidance that it seems a book cant offer. How to mesh the two together. If anyone has some good insight or direction feel free to inbox me. Im completely confused. Most books say its all one or the other :(

I really wish people who don't have a clue and who aren't Christian would stop telling people what is an isn't acceptable by a religion they do not currently practice and more than likely have a biased towards.

You can be Christian and practice Witchcraft. Witchcraft is an action, not necessarily a belief.
There are many Christians who practice magic and there is even a tradition and culture specifically for it (one of a few, however this one in particular dates back a few hundred years).

Hoodoo, for example, is folk magic that is influenced heavily by Christianity ie: it is practiced by Christians and those who can practice within the Christian concepts with respect.

The bible is frequently used in Hoodoo and many passages are almost like instructions for certain things.
The belief is that they are doing God's work, thus working magic with his approval and favor (or he simply wouldn't allow it to begin with). The use of prayer along with herbs, oils, candles, washes, etc. is key in this practice.

This particular system of Christian Magic has been around since the slave trade and is extremely prevalent in southern states, especially the bible belt, though it goes under different names such as Conjure, God's Work or sometimes just what your Grandma taught you.

So yes..you can be Christian and practice magic, despite what Non-Christians (usually those who were Christian and now have a sore spot with the religion) have to say. People have been doing it for centuries, and frankly, it's not up to anyone else if it's "right or wrong according to the bible". It's between you and your God.

No one else's opinion matters one flipping bit.

Well when christianity first came into existence, people did practice witchcraft, homosexuality, and other things that christianity frowns upon today. When the Romans invaded, that was when ideas started changing.

This thread could go on forever;it is already three years old! But, I feel I must make one thing absolutely clear. Witchcraft is NOT a religion. I have been a witch all my life. I have used magic all my life. I have no religion at all! I do not believe in anything supernatural.Yet I am a witch! So, can a Christian practise witchcraft? Of course! Any religion can practise witchcraft; or no religion.
However, a Christian Wiccan, is not the same thing as a Christian witch!
Witchcraft is what it says on the tin; it's a Craft!

What is sad is that witches were considered to be the wise people of the faith of old ancients times. I think the word Christian witch is not a good word for it. For the creation of Adam and Eve believe it or not was a command to be made. Taking a bunch of people from destroyed religions which are now dust and ashes and gathering them together to form a body (that is assembly and breathing into that body the breath of life) is that act not a form of magic by some?
