No you do not have to be a wiccan or a pagan to do magic, as a matter of fact you can believe in many things and be able to perform magic, or you could believe in nothing. As for the going to hell part, this has been a christian method implementing fear so that people may stay within church boundaries, now it is up to you if you do believe in a hell for practicing magic, follow your beliefs :)
In the Christian faith your born into the world a sinner, so unless your saved your going to hell. Doing magic wouldn't be the reason though, a lack a repentance would be, since you would be going to hell anyways. ....That's if your Christian.
But even for "saved" born again Christians, doing magic or "craft" wont in their beliefs condemn you to hell. (Not including Catholics)
trust me you will not go to hell as long as you have a peace with in you wen you practice magick and do not use magick to harm. but if you do not feel comfortable wen you practice magick than it is asher sine that going to spell craft is not for you. so i would recommend staying with in you beliefs.
Overall summary: only do wat you feel is right for you.
If you believe in Jesus as God the Son; together with the Father, and Holy Ghost; then you are a Christian. Because, as a true Christian you believe in only the one God/Trinity; and NO OTHER!
Now, you may "profess" to be a Christian, and also "profess" to be a witch. In fact, you will be neither the one nor the other. A true Christian does not believe in any God except Jesus as the son of God, and that God the God of the ten commandments, "Thou shalt have no other Gods before me." A true witch will accept Jesus as a wise, and learned man. But not, as a God.
Actually a christian is one who follows the teaching of Christ. The reason that their are so many different types of Christians is because they tend to not agree with each other about the specifics of what makes a christian or a "good" christian. Personally I believe that anyone who tries to be Christ like in their actions are Christians. Christ is a title like Buddha and is not limited to one person. Jesus might be the most well know Christ but others have tried to be Christ like and they receive the title saint instead. This is because the church manipulates the actions of the people.
I personally don't believe in Jesus but I do believe that their have been those who are Christ like. Those who practice magic while trying to be Christ like are christian witches. They practice magic just as the stories of Jesus healed the sick and did things for the poor.
I don't see how one can go to hell if they are trying to be Christ like. Hell is for people who are selfish. If you use magic in selfish ways your reality can reflect hell however if you use magic to better the lives of yourself so that you can help other then you seem Christ like in my eyes.
You don't have to believe in the "one true god" to be a christian. That is a stipulation that churches have placed on who can and can't be a christian. Being a solitary pagan witch I understand how one can feel they must fit a certain mold to be this or that but really it is up to you.
Guys, the term Christian Wiccan means someone who is Christian and does spells. It's not like saying someones a Hindu Muslim. That wouldn't make sense. You just need to learn to interpret words better. As for going to hell, no, as long as you harm none, it's not a sin.
Hell is nothing but what we think it is. It is what you believe hell is, the same as heaven. If you believe in either that fine, its not my brain or thoughts so knock yourself out. Whether or not you think you'll go to hell for doing magick is up to you. You really cant ask people "Hey do you think I'll go to hell?" I mean unless the rule hell or something. If you think you will then it doesnt matter its your life and if you think you arent then it doesnt matter its your life. Dont let others make decisions for you.
