The Moon and what it means to you and magic.
As Witches the Moon is very important to us. We draw a lot of lunar energy when we do our practices at night. We draw on the lunar energy for our magic, and cast to her cycles. We also use the moon for other things, like calculating the Tide. Many girls will have noticed (after their first couple of menstrual cycles) that they too start coinciding with the moon phases as well.
There have been several moon gods, but most commonly the Goddess is Seen as Female. Many of you will know this because of the Triple Moon goddess, who mirrors the stages of life starting as "Maiden", then moving into "Mother, and then onto "Crone". She changes the same as we do.
The Moon is the astronomical body closest to us and, therefore, she has a profound influence upon us. The highest energy occurs at the Full Moon and, therefore, this is the most powerful time for magical workings. The New Moon is the next most powerful time for Magic
First of all there a few phases to the moon. New, Waxing, Full, Waning and Dark (I've put this in this order because that's how the moon goes from beginning to end to start all over again).
New Moon magically is good for -New Moon workings can be done from the day of the new moon to three-and-a-half days after. The new moon is for starting new ventures, new beginnings. Also love and romance, health or job hunting. It is good for starting anything new basically.
Waxing Moon is good for - The waxing moon is for constructive magick, such as love, wealth, success, courage, friendship, luck or health
Full Moon is good for - Prime time for rituals for prophecy, protection, divination. Any working that needs extra power, such as help finding a new job or healing for serious conditions, can be done now. Also, love, knowledge, legal undertakings, money and dreams.
Waning Moon is good for - .The waning moon is used for banishing magick, for ridding oneself of addictions, illness or negativity.
Dark Moon - The dark moon is a time for ridding oneself of bad habits, Binding spells, for exploring our darkest recesses and understanding our angers and passions. Also bringing justice to bear.
Moon Water Tonic
Tonic waters containing the energies of the moon embody very powerful healing benefits that bring about integral balance and wholeness throughout the body, mind and soul. Clear quartz crystal catalyzes the absorption of lunar energies as well as amplifies the healing benefits.
To Prepare Moon Water
1. Wait for a clear night, preferably on or right before the full moon. put your crystal in a clear glass and cover with one cup of purified water.
2. Check an almanac for the exact time of sundown on the day you have chosen. At sundown, place the glass out of doors in a moonlit place (cover the glass with clear plastic wrap).
3. Remove the glass at dawn. The water is now filled with lunar potency. Drink the moon water every morning to prepare your body, mind and spirit for the stress of the day.

Questions, thoughts : How do you use the moon?
My answer- I'm an on the fly witch, but I find that I have started doing astral projection sessions around the Full Moon and The New Moon, and have had GREAT results from it. Using the Lunar energy is not only refreshing and a great way to recharge, but it gives that little extra boost when I really need it the most.
