I think some of them are simply misplaced.
I see mostly what people might call "neutral" covens,
not siding with "light" or "darkness" in any metaphorical sense.
Why does "light" have to be good
and "darkness" have to be bad?
Shouldn't the good guys be the ones who prevail in the end?
And don't all lights burn out eventually,
leaving darkness in it's wake?
The light and darkness metaphor suggests that evil will prevail
since darkness can not ever be truly and entirely defeated.
Besides, "evil" is just a matter of perspective.
What some see as "evil" others see as "good" and vice-versa.
