Parents, My Views+Advice.

nope my dad thinks wiccas a hoaks so ill let slleping dogs lie

I tried to convince my mom to get me a book yesterday, but she said no. :(

she said that witchcraft related books are unhealthy. I don't think she knows very much about it, though.

CressidiaV - when i first started talking about wicca, and asked my mother for a book she told me the same thing. Obviously at that time she didn't know anything about it at all, so i let things go for about a year or two then brought the topic back up.

One thing you guys need to keep in mind when dealing with your parents, is that you must be patient. A lot of parents are still hung up on "Witchcraft is evil and is the devil's work". So you must give them time to create an opening for you to talk about it.Also keep in mind, that you need to respect their rules, and their beliefs when you bring it up.

I wouldn`t have trouble convincing my parents witchcraft isnt evil, i don`t know how 2 convince them it exists in the first place. If i could somehow prove it, my dad would be fine with it, and my mom would have a seriouse mental brakedown.I would never be able to tell either of my grandmothers, 1 because shes 2 close minded and the other because she`s an extremely strong christian. And my little sister would love it and want to learn everything. No 1 knows i do magic so i have no1 2 talk 2. Its so annoying!

its generaly depends on the familys backround and religon in question if it would be supported. at least in my own persional oppion

Alex I know what you mean, for the longest time I had no one to talk to about it for years. Thankfully that has changed.

Kessler (sp?) whoop whoop for 1, and 2.) I have to agree there, it does deal a lot with upbringing, and how the parent or grandparent was raised. My grandmother is a great example here. She's a devout Christian, however, once I explained to her what Wicca was, and she did research for herself, she was understanding and still to this day asks me questions when refering to her bible on certain things, just to get a "pagan perspective". She is a very understanding and open minded person and was raised to be tolerant. There is always one bad apple that has to spoil the bunch though...so you always have to "feel the water" before jumping in.

It's annoying. my mom was bugging me the whole day, whenever I said oh, I want to read that book in the stores, she said "jeez, you seem to like dark things now. what's wrong??" !!!

My parents actually encourage it O_O They both practice themselves, but different ranges of magicks. So, I have support and help when needed :> My dad promised to pass down his power from his bloodline to me if I prove myself. What he wanted was soooo easy. _._ All of it's done for the most part except for the last thing cuz it's not the right time of year. Had to memorize the Anglo-Saxon runic alphabet, get mandrake root and dragon's blood resin, and perform Yule on camera. :/
