So, I am very curious about the spiritual practices having to do with Native American tribes, especially Eastern North American tribes because I have a lot of ancestry from them. I did some searching and found a lot about shamanism (which is something I want to study).

The problem is, I also found things claiming that shamanism had nothing to do with Native Americans and that many found it insulting to be called shamans.

So, what's the truth? Was/Is Shamanism a practice of Native Americans, or is it simply a misused term to describe the vastness of different Native American beliefs?
