According to research "Turritella Agate" is not made of fossil snails of the genus Turritella. Research indicates that the snails displayed inside what is commonly referred to as "Turitella Agate" are actually properly refereed to as Elimia Tenera, in the family Pleuroceridae. They are reported to be from ancient lakes formed in the middle parts of the Eocene Epoch, between around 53 and 42 million years ago. The Elimia Tenera shell is identifiable with an axial as well as spiral sculpture on the shell. In the case of this one of a kind wire wrapped Elimia Tenara Agate Stone the ancient shells within the agate portray the spirit of the owl very clearly. The owl is known to have a deep connection with wisdom and intuitive knowledge and is known to have discernment and to encourage quiet observation. The spiritual meaning of the owl includes clarifying through the dark, prophesy, and exposing deception; seeing the secret agendas of others. The owl is associated to the ability of clairaudience and that inner voice one may have. Clairaudience means "clear hearing" and is a skill used by those who have a strong inner voice. It may be particularly apparent during the time of the third quarter moon after the full moon to the waning half moon. Turritella Agate is an Agate Chalcedony Quartz which is known in Crystal Healing as a transformation crystal with a simplifying nature. It may be used in crystal healing to enhance transformative efforts such as changing situations, prospects, health, relationships and even oneself into something more desirable. This type of crystal may help considerably in finding better habits to replace old less desirable ones. Turritella agate is used often with respect to ancestral links and ancient wisdom due to the fossil snails encompassed within the agate. The beautiful white and grey swirls displayed against the black and darker colors in the shape of the wise owl spirit contribute to its use for meditation for ancestral enlightenment and ancient spiritual protection. These winter colors are well used on the root chakra during times of deep divination and meditation. In crystal magic white and black agates are commonly known to be used in amulets to guard against physical danger. The fossil nature of the "Turritella Agate" links it to Akasha while its agate colors link it most specifically to earth; its energy is strongly receptive.
