I thought I'd share this useful technique that I personally use for fortune telling
Step one- clear your mind and try and find a relaxing safe space, think about what you'd like to ask the universe or whichever entities/Gods you might pray to.
Step two- (what you use to smoke with is important) pack a pipe, bowl or smoking device (that you are able to see the tobacco clearly in) with tobacco or your choice of herb.
Step three- after you have everything ready, try and only think of the question you are asking as you light your pipe look down at the embers in your pipe try and use intuition and the visual shape of the burning embers to read your fortune.
Note: this method is not perfect and you will not always get answers, however if you are lucky you will see clear identifiable shapes such as crescent moons and objects that resonate with your individual experiences.
I would like to add that divination is a very personal practice and thus it won't work for everyone (in the sense of you'll get the answers your looking for) just like how Nephelomancy won't resonate with everyone and that smoke based cleansing is similar to scrying , which for those who don't know, I define scrying as "Scrying is the term used to describe Divination via observation. Usually carried out by looking into, obsidian or black mirrors, candle flames, crystal balls etc. It relies on psychic abilities, allowing our subconscious to find the answers rather then reading from a system such as tarot." This means that this (smoke based divination technique) is for those who already have the predisposition to divine matters through smoke as their medium. In truth, Scrying can be done as "easily" with a candle flame as it can with the face of a rock. You either know how to do it or you don't , so of course it won't work. That's like cooking on the stove when the oven is connected to electricity, your missing a step. Find the kind of divination that works with how your energy works when you perform magick.
