Hi all. Recently i have found that i somehow am being followed by ants! I have recently moved places, my last place filled with ants and now i am finding ants in the house of my new place too! Why do they keep coming and how do i get rid of them?!
A note: Since boric acid/Borax/many of its other names have been removed from a lot of markets as laundry detergent, something to seek is a powder in the insecticide section. It looks a lot like a large glue bottle. Typically, it is in white plastic, several inches wide, with a little pointy top which screws open and shut like a bottle of school glue, for lack of a better visual description.
A small caution when using this, is that it is toxic if ingested. If you have pets, do not sprinkle it where they may lie or walk in it, then later lick themselves. And remember to thoroughly was your hands when finished using it.
It is a very effective chemical, and does not take a lot. A boundary sprinkle outside should do the trick for the entire building.
The ants usually appear on mywindowsill and the corners of my bedroom... That would work for the ones on the windowsill. We tried some sort of ant poison before so hopefully this one will do the trick. Thankyou!
Adding to the above. How would i make sure they don't come back? I never leave rubbish or food in my room and my washing basket is on the other side of the room so i don't quite understand what is attracting them.
And just in case... is there any magicalcorrespondences with ants?
I use essential oils and herbs whereever possible, to make your own ant spray get a metal spray bottle (not plastic) from a dollar store, and put in it:
1/4 cup distilled water (like you put in an iron, or just bottled spring water is fine - at the supermarket very cheap).
1/4 cup vodka
15 drops peppermint essential oil.
15 drops tea tree essential oil (also called melaleuca oil)
7 drops lemon essential oil
shake it up and spray where the ants are, gets rid of them and smells fresh and doens't hurt your environment!
Magical correspondences w/ants? I think diligence, community, strength, determination, anything related to work, ambition, construction, a no-nonsense attitude, constitution and adaptability. I've noticed they have a similar energy to that of bees but they're more serious and grounded than bees. Physical associations would be the element of Earth, construction tools or workman's tools, tunnels, picnic supplies, grass, leaves and any food that is sweet. If you have to banish them I'd try calling on the spirits of anteaters, aardvarks, spiders and the like, but that's just me.
