With all things, a good place to begin learning magick, and how to successfully undertake it, is reading and lots of it.

There are lots of great forums here that are really useful, I will link some below but there are many others in the "General Forum" that are pinned to make them easier to find, here are just a few:

  • Starting Out: http://www.spellsofmagic.com/read_post.html?post=71692
  • The Basics Expanded: http://www.spellsofmagic.com/read_post.html?post=483942
  • Visualization: http://www.spellsofmagic.com/read_post.html?post=526472
  • Centering + Grounding: http://www.spellsofmagic.com/read_posts.html?post=829288
  • How to write a spell: http://www.spellsofmagic.com/read_post.html?post=829629
  • Troubleshooting Spells: http://www.spellsofmagic.com/read_post.html?post=846276

From there books are the best way to go, there are lots of great ones on amazon for everything you can imagine, but the best (in my opinion) purely magick book for beginners is "Before you Cast a Spell" by Carl McColman.

If you are looking for Wicca then Scott Cunningham is also a good author.

Many members have lists of recommended books on their profiles too and on other forum posts that are good places to start.

I hope this helps.
