Ritual/Magick body paint

It is really common in many cultures to use body painting in a ritualistic manner. While I do a lot of exploring inward instead of outward, I don't believe I've come across hardly any spells or rituals in the pagan community that involve such a thing despite how common it seems from an anthropological perspective. Anyone have experience with it? Did you benefit from it or did it kind of flop?

I sometimes draw protective or other relevant sigils on my body during ritual or journeying. They work as they're intended to. The only downside I experience is that it has to be washed off when the work is done.

Hi MelJea

though I don't us body paint i sometimes use Coal or mud to draw patterns on my skin that i found correspond. So for example if I was doing a return to me spell/ ritual , because i'm always losing stuff i draw the sigil i created for it on my forehead. where the Third eyes chakra is, because to me it one of the things it represents is awareness.
I personally found it helpful and usual remember where the item is.

hope this helps

p.s I'm a witch on my own path so this is from a wicca, hoodoo or Druidism view just my own

That still counts! I refer more to the act of painting on your body than the substance you are using. Charcoal and earth are probably the original substances used to do this. It's great hearing your experience. I'm such a visual person I think I will definitely have to experiment with this in the future.
