Snuffing a 7 day candle

I have a question regarding 7 day candles. How do you snuff it's flame when the fire is all the way down the jar?

I use a metal Jam jar lid and cover the top of the jar until the flame is out. Usually works like a charm :)

You can use anything that won't catch a flame on it, you can even use a cup. The thing that snuffs it is no air, so if it doesn't have any air then basically anything will work on it, I've tried many things.
