Since magic is essentially energy driven by our will to bring about a desired end, it has no real color. It's all about the intent of the caster. Their intent or desired goal determines if the outcome will be positive or negative
That said,generally, they're just terms used to label or describe a particular intent or goal that you plan on using magic for.
"White" magic is a term generally used to refer to positive uses of magic, while "black" magic is used to refer to negative uses of magic, generally associated with curses/hexes, etc.
