There is nowhere in the Christian Bible that a list of the Seven Deadly Sins is given, although lists of virtues contrasted with lists of sins are found in certain books of the New Testament, such as the Epistle to the Galatians. The modern concept of the Seven Deadly Sins is linked to the works of the 4th century monk Evagrius Ponticus, who listed eight "evil thoughts" as follows:

Gluttony; fornication; avarice; sorrow; anger; discouragement; vainglory; pride.

The first three of these sins, as Refoule explains, link to lustful appetite; anger links with the irascible; and vainglory and pride link with the intellect. Some years later, Pope Gregory I (Pope Gregory the Great) would revise this list to form the more common "Seven Deadly Sins".

These sins have been inserations for works of fiction through out the years. I like the Chaucer's version from the Cannterberry Tales and the movie Seven. It could the though that when I read the book as a teen a few monthes later the movie came out. Many strange "cooincidences" happened when I was young and look at that they still do!

I do not believe that these things themseleves are sins, they are charachteristics of living.
Every one as a little bit of each wether they realise it or not.
If having these characteristics are 'sinful' then every single living creature is the 'devils pawn' so to speak.
Plants live on sunshine and they need it to live this can be considered greedy, does that mean they are 'evil' plants, NO!
Yes, having to much of one or more these things is bad in general and for onesself but that doesn't mean the people with these characteristics are bad or sinful.
It is also good every onve ina while to be 'sinful' to indulge to give yourself a break that you deserve.
But does doing these things really make one a sinner?
THink about it,
Merry Meet and Blessed Be,
Sunny:D

Because we are human in this life Angel Lilac. It is apart of us as a primal instinct in order for us to survive. Do you think that we would be here if lust wasn't apart of us?
