Difference in books

just wondering, I've noticed different people using different terms for different books. I've heard of the spell book, grimoire, and book of shadows, all used distinguished differences.
I was curious about what those differences were because I can't seem to tell what they are.
Blessed be. :)

nothing actually. it's just what term people prefer. it's your personal book for your craft. you can decorate and fill it out however you wish. Book of Shadows is more Wiccan terminology, but not exclusive. it's just different names for the same thing. a book you put spells, rituals, and whatever else that's important to you. this could include astrology, astronomy, tarot readings, meditation sessions, prayers, colour correspondence, results of spells/rituals, and whatever else you view as relevant to your path. i personally have 3; one for spells, one for my work with dragons, and one for rituals, with a third acting as a journal for dreams, meditations, and tarot readings i found some poignant meaning in.

A book book of shadows is a modern term for a person's own collection of notes, spells, recipes, rituals, and an optional journal and it can be for the individual or the group mostly polytheism based. A Grimoire is a term that applies more to older manuscripts and ritual procedures, like the Goetia, the Grand Grimoire, and more that are ritual magick based.
