"Friendship" with a tree
By:
Hi there!

I have a tree in my backyard (a weeping willow), that I have always loved because I find it beautiful.
I have also noticed that sitting near it or under it makes me feel incredibly relaxed: it soothes me when I'm sad, angry, or nervous, in a way I've never experienced otherwise. When I leave the tree, I feel serene and well rested.
In the end, I have come to consider this tree as a close friend.

Has any of you experienced this kind of phenomenon near a tree?

Personally no... But this is grounding, it helps a lot being close to nature... It's a completely natural phenomenon.

there was a lilac in my back yard of one of my houses i enjoyed sitting under. it is possible, many people do say you should commune with any tree you wish to take a branch from. it's a living thing with energy, so it is possible to form a bond. [though i think you're doing a form of grounding, or you've created a calming space for yourself]

Thanks for your answers, both of you!

Well, it's probably grounding, as the two of you say. Although I do it unconsciously. Whenever I do it willingly, it doesn't feel the same.

And no other tree has this effect on me either, even though I love all of them! So, maybe the two of us get along well after all.

Hey there! I, too, have experienced something like this with a trio of trees in my backyard. I love to sit amongst them when I meditate. Because of this, I began to bow my head to these other tall, old pine trees that tower above all the other trees in that particular area in my town. I dubbed them "The Elders". ^.^
