My initiation into witchery is coming up soon, and i was wondering, how do you do it? Is there a specific way you must do it? Do you need a coven to initiate you? Need help with these questions. Blessed be
Initiation is usually into a group, I do believe in Self-Initiation which ties you to a current, certain energies, and even if one knows them, certain group egregores, however, that takes effort and one must do the work. In any respectable organisation one does a lot of work prior to initiation.
There is no specific way per se, but a lot of initiation rituals follow a similar structure and are based upon similar idea which are deeply rooted in human consciousness.
If you are a solitary worker you should ask yourself what exactly you want this initiation/dedication ritual to symbolise. One thing I must point out is that initiation, whilst a glorious process and useful one, is absolutely not necessary. I have found personal work performed daily to be of much better use to my spiritual development.

initiation is done to welcome someone into a coven, so yes, you would need a coven.
a dedication is where you essentially introduce yourself to your deities, explain why you wish to follow this path, and ask to work with them. this one is personal and does not require a coven.
regarding a dedication there are a number of methods you may use if you wish to follow a pre-existing ritual, or make one yourself [some feel it's better if it's personalized because you're explaining your reasons and not reading off a piece of paper what you should feel] usually a dedication would be a cleansing of yourself and your space, circle casting, calling the Gods, introduce yourself, explain your studies and reasons for joining said path, cake and ale [offerings] parting, open circle. there can be more or less depending on your path and what you feel comfortable with of course.
