question about curses

If you carry something protective with you (like for example an amulet) it seems to protect you from a curse. At least this is what I experience, maybe it is just coincidence, I don't know. Is that possible? But how can you break a curse completely? I fear it might just be inactive right now. I don't want to go into details, please understand that.

When cursing someone or something you have to find and build a connection with the target and its energy, its hard to explain but it is like tying the string to a balloon (the curse) With a doorknob (the target). to break a curse you would need to cleanse your energy, to protect against a curse it would mean blocking any intent on binding it in the first place, like a shield around the doorknob.
