I know that it is not real because I employed the use of common sense and critical thinking. To my understanding, the philosophers stone is not a physical thing, let alone something with that power.

Well,Oldor, I have read the book. It's a hoot!THe author doesn't give his name,of course. He wouldn't dare! He claims that the "stone" makes old people young again, cures every known disease, turns any metal into gold, but then says that he hasn't made it yet! The book is a joke. A hoax. Interesting to read; but absolute rubbish! You can get it free as pdf. Read it; you will cry--with laughter.

The actual concept of the Philsopher's Stone comes out of Alchemy. It was said to turn lead into gold, but it didn't actually turn the metal lead into anything. Rather it was talking about the concept in Alchemy of the "Great Work" which involved achieving one's Higher Self...turning oneself into a better individual that was closer to the Divine.

The idea that the Philosopher's Stone is some magical item that will achieve all sorts of impossible things such as granting immortaility is something out of fantasy novels and Hollywood.

If you seek any information into this stone then try looking at books and documents around the time nicolas Flamel was alive and near the ending of his death.
