I heard about this one from supernatural, the tv show, and some other places too. Is there such a thing as a rugaru, its a human that has a genetic mutation that makes them crave human flesh(aka long pig)the area around their eyes get all wrinkly, and they have great strength far amore than humans.
Well, the thing is if anything comes up that was for commercial entertainment purposes, then you're right to consider that aspect of it...that there is a "fakeness" to it.
But it can get more complicated than that. I believe in divine inspiration, for example. So, something fictional might only be fictional because that's the way it's treated, inspiration of all kinds are processed into a final story that's shared for entertainment purposes in exchange for money. But the seed of that could have been divine inspiration.
So, sorry. It's not that simple. You'd have to research and experiment for yourself instead of having somebody else write this giant Santa Claus like naughty/nice list (except instead of naughty/nice it's fake/real.)

There is some truth in what Aeons Wing is saying. Many of these TV shows, although fiction, do often have little "bits" of real witchcraft in them. The authors may very well have read books, on Wicca, Witchcraft, and various aspects of the Occult. I have watched a couple of these shows, and they can be very entertaining. I rather liked the Harry Potter movies. The problem arises when some, especially children, believe the "stories" to be true!
One has only to think of the children's belief in Santa Claus. Yet, that jolly fat man in the red suit was originally an advertisement for Coca Cola!
Depends on your beliefs to be honest. Beings like spirits, demons, angels, deities, etc can be real to you, but like I said, depends on your beliefs and how you would interpret those "forces" or "energies". But beings like mermaids, vampires, werewolves, giants, satyrs, etc they are just fake, nor you can become one.
