Hello. It's always good to see new people and people who want to learn on here. Newbie Central has a lot of helpful tips to get you started. Also the SoM Survival Guide is very good. It will make life on the site much easier for you (helps you avoid stepping on people's toes and things).
As for where to begin with witchcraft, witchcraft itself isn't a religion. It is a craft practiced by many religions. Nowadays wiccan and witch are used interchangabley in popular culture but many witches/spell casters/whatever they want to call themselves follow other religions and paths. There are lots of articles on what Wicca is and isn't. (I believe Lark, one of the mods, has a very good forum thread about that).
Regardless of religion though, there are a few universal basics. Meditation is a really good place to start. It's private, safe and costs nothing. You can't go wrong with meditation really (although it can take some practice before you stop drifting off to sleep and/or getting distracted). From there, with time you can start casting simple spells.
I would suggest keeping a book for your experiences and research (Wiccans would call it a Book of Shadows but even if you find that you're not wiccan it's still a good habit). Float around the site a bit, see if you find something that catches your interest and then do research on it but watch out for the fluff. Take some of these spells with a pinch of salt (vampire spells will never work). The rest is up to you. I wish you luck!
