I was wondering how I could use a Ouija board properly, so no negativity may make its way in..

In my experience I have always used a protection spell and cleansed the space where i'm using a spirit bored, also don't try to order a spirit and keep your questions simple. Hope this helps :)

I recommend first smudge the area you will be using, this will rid the area of any negative spirits that may be lingering around, and keeps the benign ones in. Then do some sort of protection ritual or spell. This may be salting the four corners of the room, sprinkling holy water, praying over the room whilst doing these things, etc. Now you have the room protected, you want to make sure yourself and others are protected. You can place some kind of protective oil, charm, water, etc. On yourself and others in the room. Make sure your board is cleansed as well, because if you bought it, someone elses energies and even the spirits around them may be attached to the board, which could have a possibility to be negative. So cleanse it during the smudging process as well. Be sure to cleanse the board after each usage.

You can burn some incense to attract benign spirits to communicate with as well. Be sure to use respect and even give a little offering as well. They want to feel welcomed into your space. Be sure your questions are clear and to the point. You may or may not have an experience on your first try.
