Maybe stop expecting good things or looking for good things and just allow them to come, as if you're too focused on looking at one thing something good might slip right out in front of you and you might miss it as you're focused on it being something else.
As for the meditation, as the others have said, it can bring out what you need to know or question in order to grow. Ask yourself why you're remembering these things. Maybe you just need to find peace in them so you can find a greater level of peace within yourself? Maybe try to release some of the people or emotions and memories holding you back.
Just keep in mind that with each bad thing comes something good and vice versa, just be positive and open to receiving and I'm sure positivity will come your way :)Possibly even give yourself a cleansing to feel fresher.
