A story and a question

When I was new to the craft I had a friend by the name Ross. One day at school he called me a hurtful name when he was with his other group, that didn't like me a lot. The torment from my former friend only grew stronger, as did my hate for him. He was so terrible to me when ever I saw him I prepared myself for his abuse. Until one night with the light of a black candle, I cast a dark magic spell to cause him to break his bones. The next time I saw him his arm was broken in a cast, I was satisfied of what I did, and after that he never ridiculed me again.

~just so you know I am an unlined witch neither good or evil but I will offer to help my friends at school with magic.

So my question is do you think what I did was wrong?

As a bonus question:

do you think it would be wrong to use dark magic to save yourself or someone else from getting hurt?

Dark and Light, Good and Evil are all just subjective points of view. There is nothing that makes your actions right or wrong, because everyone will find something someone did right or wrong. It's kind of like how you will think chocolate is good, and others will find it horrible. Sure, there are a lot of people who may have the same views on certain topics. But Magick is magick. It is not good or evil.

There is also no 'Alignment' of witches/practitioners. Some of us may choose not to curse people, but that doesn't make us a good witch or bad witch. Just like how there is not dark or light/black or white magick.

If you ask a group of people if what you did was right. You will get a lot of different answers for many different reasons. The only thing that matters is how you view your actions.

Yes, i do think what you did was wrong. He should have stood by his friend but he did not deserve this. Your actions were based on vengence and not justice. As too your second question, its to undefined to pick any moral stand point

I think this experience should teach you something very important, "revenge solves nothing". You invested your time and effort into this spell and you are still being abused by your "friend". You are free to use magic for whatever you wish, but to cast a spell purely out of hatred for a person is abhorrent. You will never change your situation like this, you will only bring about more suffering of the both of you. If this were to escalate, you could put everyone you love at risk. Magic is not rendered dark by its nature, only its use, and you have used it to accomplish nothing. You have destroyed purely for the sake of destruction, this was not justice. I suggest you never do something like this ever again, or you will risk your hatred consuming you until there is nothing left of you or your loved ones.

I don`t see what you did as wrong you were casting a spell to defend yourself. I personally believe if you have the power to stop something that's a threat use it. Squash the enemy if need be.

Personally, I feel that what you did was wrong. I believe that, as humans, it isn't our duty to punish others for their crimes using magic. That's just my opinion though. Sure, he shouldn't have been bullying you. I just think that breaking his bones was taking things a little too far. If you were going to take vengeance on him, a binding spell to only allow kind words to escape his lips would have been sufficient. Before preforming a spell I always put myself in the targets place.

In response to your bonus question. Yes. I do think it would be wrong to hurt someone to save someone. Their wicked deeds will return to them eventually.

I don't believe magic is divided light or dark its all one in the same how you use it is what matters. I personally believe if you casted that spell in self defense and it worked without grave consequences then its fine.

Unless he broke your bones then yes it was probably rong to break his. I understand how much bulling can effect people but you should never react to it in a negative way. You don't know what has gone on in there life to make them treat you badly. They might be hurting just as much as you are.

Hello me again, thank you for the comments. But just so you know I was 11 when I cast the spell. I have grown a lot more responsible with magic, and also ross after that never caused me any form of pain. And I never received consequences for my deeds, I also always think every spell, ritual, etc. through before I preform it. And just so you know I didn't mean for the questions to sound so deranged. I also stay on the "lighter" side of magick.
