New, seeking help
By:
So I stumbled on this website and decided to join up because I just had to put down my familiar of 12 years. She always sat with me from the first day I started learning about Wicca and she stayed by me even when I couldn't be there for her.
My mom had her put down today because she wouldn't stop peeing all over the deck and house doors. She's been an outdoor cat for years now but she was happier outside anyway. Used to knock things off my alter when I tried to work inside with it.
Now that she's gone I'm looking for a way to honor her, but am coming up short. If anyone has any ideas or can point me to any good resources I would really appreciate it!!

sorry for your loss. one of my covenmates cat died two years ago, we did a little ritual for her. i wish i kept it, but basically, if you're going to bury the cat, get a plant to place over the grave, if not, a potted plant works. as well, get a bell, some cat treat or food your pet liked, a picture, and a cat shaped candle. [or a candle the same colour as your cat]

cast the circle and begin the ceremony. speak about your cat's parting and is now at peace with Bast [or The Lord and Lady if you don't pray to Bast] bury your cat, placing some food/treats in the grave, then plant the plant you brought, saying how it will grow in memory of your familiar. if you have the potted plant, just place a few cat treats around it. ring the bell 3 times, then light the candle. this candle represents your cats spirit, each time you light the candle [unless your cat's crossed over] it will call its spirit back to you. [my friend didn't want her cat stuck here, so we omitted the candle] place the candle on the altar, and take a handful of the treats/food, and speak of a fond memory you have. throw the treats to all the directions of the circle, and pass the bell and food to the next person. they should ring the bell, take some treats, and speak about their memories with the cat. repeat for everyone in the circle. finally, say goodbye to your cat and open the circle.

if you want a chant, i incorporated this one into the ceremony:

Thanks so much for the advice. It should be just me there for the ceremony, I don't have a coven and I don't think anyone important can come. I love the idea of ringing the bell and giving her treats if we have any.
I really just hope she can forgive me for letting this happen. According to 'MORA' she wont but I'm just going to refuse to believe that application works.

Mora is just a computer program for fun.
I think the ritual idea is wonderful. And try not to be sad. Peeing all over like that was a sign that it was time. Remember the ggod things, and do the ritual. It sounds nice. And gewt yourself another cat! lol Blessed Be...

Sorry for that, I know what it's like, I went to a spot me and my familiar would visit regularly and lit a candle and some incense for him, and I do it every time I visit that place. Hope this helps and BB )o( p.s I would check online for a spirit release ritual just in case.

i'd meditate and ask your cat if she forgives you. an answer should come. when someone's so close, and it's soon after a passing, it's easiest to connect with them. you might not see your cat appear and tell you, you might get a feeling, a feeling of joy, a feeling of sorrow, it depends on your pets answer. i doubt it would be too upset, especially if it was old, and if it was sick in some way. i've had a few pets die, and there spirits linger. sometimes they've curled up at the foot of my bed while i sleep for many years after they died.

Thank you all so much. I do have another cat, Sawyer, she's a sweet girl only a few years old. I'm going to adopt a puppy from my mother-in-law. She was born back on Thanksgiving and I feel deeply connected from her from the first time I saw a photo.
I'm not getting her body back from the vet until Thursday, being stuck in limbo like this is painful in and of its self.
I think the hardest part is that we had three cats, Zea, Sam and Sawyer. Sammy died the day after I left on a trip, a blood clot. Now with Zea gone too I just feel so devastated.
The support is a great help though. I can't thank you all enough.
