Hey to all. I've been interested in alternative spirituality and the practice of magic for a couple years now. More recently I am trying to train myself to Lucid Dream. I've been looking for techniques and training suggestions on the web and this seems like a nice community :).

I also am very interested in mental training exercises, I've been reading the first book by Franz Bardon entitled "Initiation into Hermetics" anyone ever studied any of his material?

Yes I have read it. Initiation into hermetics is a major undertaking, depending on whether you wait until you have mastered all of the exercises before you move on to the next part. Same with any occult technique i guess. But..... This book.... If you do it properly it can take years to actually master the material and then some say you never really do entirely. Rawn Clarke said it can take 10-30 years to master the exercises. I've heard it can be done in 3. If you practice energy work you will find the accumulations easy. It all depends on what you want out of your magick.

Some are skeptical of Bardon but I believe he was the real deal.

Interested to hear what others think

Yes, I haven't actually tried to practice anything out of the book yet. But the reading is very good, I know it will take me a long while to actually make any headway but I am confident that it can make anyone very proficient with the art.

darkmoon, do you have any suggestions on training exercises for beginners?
