well decorate your house as you would for christmas for one thing, since a tree decorated with lights as well as red, green, and gold are common. think of 'Deck the Halls' it's sort of a how to guide.
a Yule Log would be appropriate. if you don't have a fireplace, you could get a log, hollow out some spots and place candles in them. third option would be get a Yule Log Cake [good option if you're having a big get together] you should have your house well lit, leave the tree's lights on all night if possible. since the point is to help give light to the darkness so the god can be reborn. try researching The Oak King and The Holy King, it might help give you some idea's.
try to stay up all night. my coven normally has a circle at midnight and then one outside in the morning to welcome the sun/rebirth of The Oak King. how many people are coming over, or is it just you? if there's a bunch of people, you could do a gift exchanged and a potluck meal. just you, i'd leave an offering for the deities under the tree [say food or a bird feeder] in the morning place it outside.
the fist couple links are about Yule, the next couple are the Kings, the third are some deities people worship around Yule. hope that helped, Merry Yule.
