Sea salt is naturally derived, whereas table salt is generally iodized. This means that the element iodine has been chemically added to the salt.

The debate rages on among nutritionists as to whether or not one or the other is a healthier alternative. Where magic is concerned, a witch ought to use the most organic, naturally-derived materials they can ... but are not in any significant way penalized if they don't. If you simply cannot provide sea salt, iodized salt will work just fine.

Regarding your health you may read this article from Mayo Clinic http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/sea-salt/AN01142

Regarding magic please read Lucky Mojo's article http://www.luckymojo.com/salt.html

You may use any kind of salt for your work but I still prefer sea salt over commonplace table salt. Just my two cents.

Regular salt is sodium chloride with things added like aluminum to keep it from clumping. It is dead, has no energy, so for use in magic it is worthless.

Sea Salt contains the minerals of the sea, the crystals are naturally formed and it contains life energy, therefore adds to the magic.

Please consider this, the Mayo clinic is pro-western medicine and will discredit anything natural and organic.
