Magic is very natural, it is normally very Earthly as well. Until you get into metaphysics, mythology, religion, and spirituality and maybe a couple others Magic tends to be rather practical.
Magic as I define it is the constant changing and shifting of energy. Using magic or witchcraft as some might call it is attempting to manipulate or bring about change via energy manipulation. This change I often refer to as the desired outcome of magic use.
For instance a spell is not always successful even though the spell itself is fine and realistic. The idea is not to force change, if you try that it's an uphill battle with nature that you aren't winning. The idea is affect nature trying to cause a chain reaction leading to your desired outcome.
The concept of a chain reaction is that something doesn't come from nothing. You have to set up what's necessary for the desired outcome to happen or exist.
You do not want to cast a spell to win the lottery and not even buy a lottery ticket.
You don't want to cast a spell to communicate better with your classmates when you don't even try to talk or don't even show up to school.
Magic doesn't control you so to say, as it's not a single-minded force capable of sentience. Magic is simply a concept referring to change in the universe.
