I have a quick question about white sage (Salvia Apiana). Is it safe to smoke? I normally use this type of sage to purify and cleanse my crystals. I love the way white sage smell and taste in my mouth. Lately I've started smoking it because I've develope a taste for it. I tried to google this question but I didn't really trust the comments that google provided. Please advise
had a friend who smoked salvia once, he was really loopy for about 30 minutes then fell asleep. i know sage has been used by natives for religious and medical reasons, that's about it. i think white sage is the same thing [not a drug person lol] typically white sage is to cook with. inhaling smoke is probably bad for your lungs in large doses, and it kinda sounds like you're getting addicted if you've developed a taste of it. well, here's a link with a couple facts on white sage for you to choose for yourself, but i don't think there's anything wrong so long as you don't go overboard. http://www.livestrong.com/article/382221-white-sage-facts/
Ive done quite a bit of research on Salvia. They say its like weed and safe to smoke, perferably when alone. However the extract can be dangerous from what ive heard. If your using extract its better not to do it with a bunch of people. And Salvia is definatley not a party drug ;)
Salvia Apiana (White Sage) won't do anything trippy to you if you smoke it, it's a fairly harmless herb and can used as a tea to induce sweating, though can give you a sore throat if smoked.
Salvia Divinorum (Divination Sage) does have a mild entheogenic effect and is used to blur the boundaries. I know of a shamanic practitioner who uses it safely, yet there are others who've become addicted, so you'll have to make up your own mind about that.

Man, you need to feel really un-cool admitting to this at a Narcotics Anonymous meeting.
I suggest hitting up the Erowid page on sage. Most of them seem to be about smoking it, though not all, and a few don't seem to be about sage on its own.
