I probably wouldn't be very worried. Certainly there are some dangerous magicians out there, but I've found that the vast majority of people who threaten to curse others are morons. My first thought would therefore be, "can this person even pose a threat?"

If I conclude that the person could conceivably be a threat I would be a little more zealous in my magical housekeeping (banishings for all!) and I would re-dedicate myself to my spiritual path in an effort to find safety in balance.

That might just escalate things and increase karmic backlash. I wouldn't dismiss Nightcreatur's course of action out of hand, but I'd be way more prone to just wanting to avoid the initial hexing and leave it at that.

It would be only natural to be scared, for people that think they are intouchable may be only silly instead. Even the nevy of Your coworkers, may be enough to pierce Your aura and consequently cause many troubles, even If they know nothing of magick or supernatural.
We are creatures that have more than one nature ( physical, material, or simply physical body ) and we are thus vulnerable on more than one level.
However, knowing someone's intetions, and their indentity would not creep me out, it would make me cautiou s, and ready.

Blessings ! :)

The best cure to a hex or curse, is to honestly and truely laugh at it. Laughing is more powerful than any negative-destroying tool.

I somewhat agree with Chrion here. Most practicioners who publicaly threaten you or anyone for that matter, magically speaking are more often then not trying to scare you, that of course is bluffing. In my experience and my studies I find that people with the ability yet alone the stomach to perform curses and hexes and the like are more silent in their actions. This can be said for most violent beahvior in general.

Of course it's always better to be cautious in any case but most of the time when someone threatens to curse you or cause you harm, is doing so because they know they can't but want to done one of two things are both. Obviously they want to scare you, or at least try. But secondly the also want to test you and observe your reaction.

I think it's important to recognize why a person would even want to curse/hex you or threaten you in the first place. Most of the time it's out of envy, but it's not uncommon that you did something to warrant their anger; even if your not aware of it. If someone's threatining you, you should try to find out why their mad in the first place, sometimes you can work it out. Miscommunication is often the culprit especially when dealing with people over the internet.

In any case just try talking to the person, think about why their upset and what you may have done. If you did something apologize for whatever you did and move on. If they continue to threaten you contact the authorities, regardless if it's a magical threat harassment is still illegal. If people are threatening you on this site contact a moderator or the administrator.

I would agree with laughing it off . Your forgetting about the psychological aspect of knowing that your "cursed". If you know you have been cursed or think you have been cursed your going to be looking for reasons that it may have worked. By doing this your actually giving this "curse" power over you and you don't want to do that. For that reason and that reason only would be why that person was so open about it. By looking for it and fearing it you could actually become more prone to being unlucky or even getting hurt. I would just shrug it off and not think about it. If you don't think about and don't acknowledge it, it will not have any power over you.

myself. a little. when i first started out i was always worried about spells backfiring, or this girl i knew cursing me. curses and hexes were her specialty, i have a full Book of Shadows that's nothing but curses she's given me. eventually i grew to know that if i have a good shield, and believe that no curse can effect me more than if i let it, i wasn't worried about it. i ended up telling her off last samhain, and i haven't seen or heard from her since. i know she cursed me, but i haven't felt any negative repercussions. just make a charm for protection and don't think about it. that's the best solution. if it insists, look into a rule of three spell or something to send it back to them three times as worse.
