Merry Meet Blazenick,
i too am a beginner here and have been eager to find out the basics of magic. I am pleased to tell you that over time i have collected from this site a lot of information and am willing to share it with you in my own words. :)
To start off with, i think it is important to know how to keep a relaxed state of mind and body; Relaxation is the key element to keeping focused and having success in your spells. This is my relaxation method:
-Find a place that is quiet and where you know you will not be disturbed.
-Next, find a comfortable position- what ever feels right for you, there is no right or wrong way to position yourself- and close your eyes
- Focus on your breathing and start taking deeper (not too deep) breaths counting them as you go. eg. Breath in, 1. Breath out, 2. Do this up to 10 repetatively until you can count to 10 without being disturbed by any other thoughts.
-Now is your time of peace it is as simple as that. I also use this method for the start of my meditations.
Next, You should start working on centering yourself. Centering is when you find the core of your body, it is your bare energy. Your center is who you are, your raw emotions, how you feel at that current time. To centre it may take a bit more work, depending on how you take on this activity. Centreing is has great use in spells that require you to direct your energy in any way because your centre is where all your main energy comes from.To centre yourself:
-Do the same as you would in the relaxation method.
- this time when you reach your relaxed state you focus on yourself. Try and picture yourself in your head (this can also be a great visualisation activity).
-look for a glowing area in the centre of your chest. That is YOUR centre. The first time round in this activity the glow may be dull or hard to see. Keep working on it again and again until you are able to see your centre clearly.
-You have now centred yourself :)
After that, what i think is the last basic, is grounding. Grounding is merely connecting yourself completely to mother nature and letting all of your negative energy and emotion go. This is a great way of clearing your mind at tough times. To ground yourself:
-Again do the same as you would for relaxation except this time it would be better to stand up and stand on an earthy surface.
-when you reach your relaxed state of mind, visualise roots from your feet digging deep into the ground and raping themselves around the red hot centre of the earth, what i like to call earths energy. If you wish, you can imagine vines reaching up to the sun to sybolise father sky you can.When you feel connected, think of everything negative in your life and push it out of your body down the roots/up the vines and into the earth, sky. When you have finished ridding of your negative energies relax yourself again until you are ready to do what ever again.
