Adularia/Orthoclase and Albite (from the feldspar family) is what makes moonstone. The two are merged together, and as they cool, they are layered. Light falls between these layers and creates what we know as 'adularescence.' (The shininess of the moonstone)

Thus, there is no single moonstone made out of adularia and albite on their own, because actual moonstone is made of the two combined.

However people often think moonstone is composed of one of them two. This is incorrect, it is just that moonstones can have more of one (usually orthoclase) mineral than the other, thus being categorized as either a adularia/orthoclase or albite moonstone.

So basically, there is no 'adularia' or 'albite' moonstone, because moonstone is the resulting matter when the two have been merged.

Hope I haven't confused you. xD

Thank you for clearing that up. I had been looking into it, and varying sources were disagreeing on whether or not they were in fact seperate types of stone or just one stone with those two compounds.

I hope you do not mind, but I have another question now.

Would the amount of either compound change the adularescence of the moonstone, or effect its properties in any way?

@GoddessNox

Of course I don't mind :). And yes, it most likely would. This would effect moonstone's 'shiny/glossy' appearance if it had more of one than the other, but I do not reckon that there will be much change in the properties. Maybe slightly.
