Lost Info...or Paranoia?

Here is a thread that hopefully will catch interest. I want people's honest to goodness opinions. Oh, and PLEASE folks, try not to get into a "forumic brawl" as I shall call it!

The question:

Many people in the world believe that there is lost magickal information "out there" somewhere. Others think that this first group of people is a bunch of crazy loons. This first group of people thinks that the second is a bunch of close minded fools. The first group argues that "it would have been discovered by now!" and "That's not possible!" The second group rebutts this argument with, "Have you explored every inch of the planet? Checked every possible hiding place for information!?" and "Not possible, eh? So you mean to tell me that you have met every person in the world and none of them can do it? (Pause) I DIDN'T THINK SO, SO STICK A LID ON IT!" This goes back and forth and at times is quite amusing. Well, enough background information already! The question is below.

Now, what do you personally think about this idea of possible "lost" "great" magickal texts that would show one how to do magickal feats beyond belief?

Hopefully this thread will bring both amusement and knowledge, but it is certain to bring the former!

I would like to further claim that I will maintain a neutral point of view on this matter and will try to stay out of it completely. Have fun!

it was never lost to begin with. you just have to learn how to do such feats. and in order to do that, you'd have to have discipline, focus, and motivation to do such things.

now, if you delve into eastern philosophy, you'll find something called the akashic records. ;)

If someone can show me a historical text that refers to some mystical book dated back centuries that says specifically in it the techniques needed to fly without a device or grow a fish tail, I will eat my hat.

Until that day comes, I think this is just another fluffy attempt to go with the line "anything is possible if you believe enough" *cue sappy disney music for the background*

More tripe and sowing of dissent. Posing questions that are obviously controversial. Childish. Go haunt a Southern Baptist site or something similar.

I have heard of those. Again, what is the general opinion on the Akashic records? Also, remember that not everyone has heard of these records, much less access them; so the argument continues. "Check the Akashic records you moron!" "Umm, what's the uh...Aklashtic?...records?" See, and then the former gets annoyed by the latter and does not explain what they are, OR the later gets angry and says that either the records don't exist or that they are wrong. (See how people will always find a way to argue!? LOL) Excellent response though DarkestLight.

Also Rashnu, I know how you are about the concepts of fantastical feats, BUT let us remember that those who wish to believe shall. They will argue the point by also adding in things like, "Well the people who can do just don't wanna teach it to others! Hmph! (cue the pouty lip!)" Nice thing about the Disney though! LOL moment.

This was an honest to goodness question of opinion!! LOL If you didn't have an answer then you really didn't need to post some provacative message like that! LOL

You didn't "do" anything to me, not that you could anyway. It's simply your huge ego and insatiable thirst for stroking of it that sets me off.

Don't bother responding to this as your remarks are as effective as your powers...a waste of time for true students of the Arts.

See stoney, now your beginning to talk like a moron! Not that I am scared of you, NOR do any of the incredibly childish remarks from you phase me in any way shape or form, in fact, your words amuse me! LOL; for someone who has been practicing for "30 years", you sure are acting like an immature 10 year old! Who calls there abilities "powers"? This isn'tDisney. I recommend you going back to bed and waking up on the right side!Secondly, how the heck you think that this post "strokes my ego" is off the wall and absurd, I did this because I am curious of people's honest to goodness opinions and I like knowledge. No, "stoking my ego," as you like to call it, would be me making a post saying "I can do all of this, now you guys tell me what you can do! Ha ha ha!" So basically, I really didn't want an argument, but if you want one, you can have it! You also have no right to insult my abilities with the Arts! Have you met me in person? Thank the Heavens no! Have you ever seen me? No, so shut the heck up! You speak out of built up angerness and bitterness and since I happen to be the person who posted something that was a little off, you'd bite my head off!

Ok in reply to the original question. The answer I believe to be complicated.

Yes I believe there is lost magic out there. No I don't believe it would do what most people think it would.

Yes I believe that there are secrets in this world. Secrets of magic and many others. I believe that no one knows all magical possibilities yet and therefore we shouldn't judge based on our own experiences alone.

No I do not believe that the lost magic allowed people to easily fly about or throw fireballs. There just isn't the history to back it up. Maybe once long ago a few people were able to do it, thus the stories of witches and warlocks...but who knows. It is just as likely that people just made those stories up to have excuses for avoiding the creepy old woman down the road.

I do believe that there is quite a bit we don't know. I prefer to use my head and if someone tells me they can light fires with their mind I ask to see it done rather than saying immediately "That's impossible." Just in case, I would love to see it. I don't just believe someone without some kind of evidence in situations that I've never seen before. I have never seen anyone light a fire with magic/psionics/whatever you want to call it. I have seen someone move fire, so I don't assume it isn't possible. If there is lost magic out there, I want my mind to be open enough to grasp it but wise enough to identify it when I see it amidst all the rubbish.
