It isn't even so much that people will not just read the FAQ anymore, but more often than not people won't even read the forums either. This particular Question along with many others have been asked and answered numerous times in a polite and respectful manner. About every month or so you see the same exact threads reposted. Aside from being a much older member and knowing a lot of what's already posted in here, I'll admit that seeing the same thing over and over I have responded to others in a snide manner myself in the past.

The majority of the non searching for an answer yourself, or expecting the results right now is more of the downfall of our generation. If people actually took the time out to commit to their paths and search through these forums, we might one day have more meaningful conversations in the chatter instead of "school sucks or I like pie." At very least something more of substance and intelligence. Maybe even based on the occult.

Thou speakest wise words. For that, I thank thee.

Now, in the Chatter, I understand said point. Often time though, if I or someone else brings up a magickal topic, it blossoms into a conversation about magicks.

It's simply a popularity contest. If mods like you, then you generally get the position.

It's not really a popularity contest either! lol If I am not mistaken, only Pet. can make someone a moderator.

Not that I think you are lying, but where do you get your information? Just curious.

The reason I said that and even why I started this thread, RashnuX, is because of the Stickied Thread in this Forum ("Comments") that states, (on how to become a mod) "don't ask".

Actually the responses that you have received are somewhat based on truth, and some on opinion. Though even the opinions hold truth, they are not the set guidelines. Mods pick Editors and Mods, Pet gives the final answer. It is a well balanced process when it works, which has a low retention rate at best. And for a many of good reasons.

Bottom line they would be looking for well rounded members who have demonstrated for a period of time to be helpful, active, and generally have a good demeanor. Who they choose and how they go about it is indeed "Mod Business", and can not be disputed.
