From a past post because I hate rewriting my words:
"Black magic does not exist. It is merely a category that has been placed on harmful magic. However, what is harmful to you, is helpful to me and vice versa. Therefore both the terms are false. To call it dark magic or dark arts is also incorrect as darkness is not evil, but merely itself. Both darkness and light can be used just as easily to harm or to help.
The world is balanced. Lack of that balance is in denying the existence of the stuff that has negative effects. Think of this as an example:
To gain more money, you do a death spell on a relation, they die and their inheritance passes to you.
To gain more money, you do a money spell, a relation dies, and their inheritance passes to you.
The only difference between these two is the type of spell done, you still have the same results; a dead relative and more money for you. You would not think of doing a money spell as possible ''black magic'' but in truth it can easily be so as shown in the above. Or another way to look at it:
When you do a money spell, and you subsequently win the lottery, think of all the people who needed that money more than you did. People who are barely getting by as is, or had the lottery as their last hope to keep their house.
These go against the principle of ''do ye no harm'' as they cause harm. However, you wouldn't look at it that way because you only see the individual good in your actions. Magic is as balanced as anything and everything else in life. There is both positive and negative existing in it, in each spell done, even if you don't see that positive, or that negative. Lol.
Also, as for karma...it tends only to affect those who believe in it *in this life*. It is a psychological thing of ''I did bad, therefore, bad must happen back to me.'' The universe isn't sitting back, waiting for you to screw up to slap you on the hand. Honestly, it has better things to do than worry about insignificant people such as us. The universe has existed much much much longer than the human race has, and it is also much much much bigger than we are. Why would it bother with us? Lol. The things we do have no weight on it, it remains changed only by itself. We have no affect on it at all. Lol. To think that we are important enough in the grand scale, is a bit egocentric of us, however, that is to be expected as these days egocentrism is the norm. Lol.
However, that being said...in this life we rack up karma for our actions. When we die we will go to hell to burn the negative karma off ourselves. However...this need not be done in the next life if you visit hell and burn off your karma at an earlier date. Lol."---as SaidGuidence
So, it is really how you think about it. And who thinks about it. ;)
