I have the same problem when it comes to meditation. The only thing I can say is to concentrate on your breathing - inhale for 7, hold for 2, and exhale for 5. Try to do this for as long as you want. For me, meditation was hard in the beginning (cars, noisy neighbors, etc.) If you have a set of headphones, putting them on helps some. They muffle some of the outside noise. No music in them though, you want to concentrate on your breathing.
With time and practice, you'll find that you may not need the headphones at all. Also, try practicing early in the morning before the days problems start. I do just for that purpose.
