I was in no way meaning to offend anyone! There really wasn't anyone to talk to about it online at the time. It was meant in the asking of assistance and not in a rude way. Maybe I could have asked privately and I would have had "anyone" from the coven actually been here or on the coven's site, I spent days waiting to ask, so I figured the alternative was to ask here on the forums, If you took offense it wasn't my intention. Furthermore, I joined to learn, and not be talked to as a child. I took a long time in deciding which coven to chose, perhaps I should have paid more attention, not to what the coven was about, and more about which covens were actually active. I am bluntly honest about things, so I'm sure I will tend to ruffle a few feathers so to speak now and again. Thanks for the replies as it tells me alot about the people of this site. :-)

I agree with Nevermore on this one.
People here aren't responsible for your issues with certain covens, so please take up this sort of thing with councilors or leaders before doing it in public. I do find it tasteless.

As for a new coven.
I suggest you look through them, look at the leaders. On profiles it is listed when they last were on. Also on their history tab it shows how often they've posted in the last few days. This is a good indicator how active the leaders are. With good, active leaders there's a good chance the coven is at least slightly more active than those who have completely inactive leaders.

Now if we want to disagree with people, I do disagree with Linx on her oh so clever way of advertising her own coven. This forum is for advertising your coven, do it in your own thread. It's a tad bit egoistic not to list other options to new members.

Of all who post,
~Snow

As I am a part of two online covens (one being here, on SOM and another individual website) if I were to state this fact in another forum this too would push your button.

When in fact this thread and my comments have nothing to do with advertising covens. But simple conversation and suggestion. As I haven't been on here I don't have another coven to suggest because I do not part take in any other thus I am unable to recommend another but my own.

Overall, the main topic is about VelvetRose and her having difficulties finding a place to learn. Not me and my advertising.

My useless opinion of a "tasteless" post, yay I always seem to have a knack for rubbing people I like wrong. But this entire thread bugs the stuffing out of me.

VelvetRose makes a post on the main Coven Forums about the severe lack of activity in the Coven of which she resided in at the moment of her original post. "Tasteless"? I thoroughly disagree with this adjective on the ideal behind posting the complaint here.

At the time of the post VelvetRose belonged to the "Vampiric Elegance" Coven. A Coven that at her time of post did indeed suffer a severe lack of activity that was not of a Fluff nature. A Coven that was more worried about who was going to become Priest and Priestess than help those who were obviously screaming out for help.

I would agree that under normal circumstances this type of "complaint" would have been better handled through maybe the Coven's council; which at that time the only active Council member was Vampirella (which also unless I'm mistaken was quite recently removed for role-playing). That would leave a Priestess to explain her problem to, since at that time a Priest did not exist. But wait the 15 yr. old entrusted to run the Coven had not been seen on this site since Jan. 24, 2010. So there went that idea.

*Looking around* Yea I would have to say that this would be the next logical place to post her complaint. As for thinking that this Coven would be active, I don't blame her in that assumption at all. If I was new and digging through the list of available Covens and found one that housed 258 members, I too would assume that somewhere there might be a handful of members that could help me.

But as of this morning a knowledgeable and active Priestess was chosen, so over the upcoming weeks I would think we might be seeing the place thinned out a bit and looking up. ;)

As for advertising one's site in response to Miss Velvet. I do not see where anything other than a Spells Of Magic Coven/Clan was endorsed. Almost every Coven on here has a separate site page that goes along with the SOM Coven. Most of us have found that we can not oraganize our threads and information with the SOM walls, to the degree that we choose to. Nor do we have enough space to house all of any particular Coven/Clan's threads, info, or spells. Not to mention what other Coven can you offer than the one's you possess a working knowledge or?

*Looks over post* Holy Cow!! Clear, concise, well researched post.. I'm turning into Ragnorok.. :p
