Charging for Tarot?

Ok, I heard from some people that charging for tarot readings is bad. Others have said however it is perfectly fine because in this day and age nothing is appreciated unless it's paid for- the same mentality used for reiki and spell castings and such..

So, I had planned to do Tarot readings from home for like $5/30 minutes, $10/hour, etc from my house for a little extra cash. Like, have the person call and schedule an appt. and then they come over and have the reading.
So is it bad to do tarot for money? Some people charge like $50 a reading- $10 an hour is cheap, to me.

I would never pay for tarot readings, I can get them for free. :D

Only time I ever pay for a tarot reading, it would be a tarot reading from a hot chick naked.

Is ok Heaterc. You can use Tarot for cash. It is an job. Now, is time to let you know. We believe that if you read Tarot for the person without any thing than you will take off or take his SIN. Meaning is his Sin will be yours. If you do not do anything wrong but he does, than the bad thing he does will come over you.
So thats why we want to cost money for Tarot reading, so that his matters and Sin wil be his, not ours. We don't need to pay any responsibility to what he had done. Understand?
Hope this will help to solve your problem.

I still think naked tarot readings would be a hit.

I never charged for my tarot readings though now I do cause of the simple fact ppl took advantage of me while I did that so I started charging for that and the spells that they wanted me to cast not cause I am greedy but I got tired of using all my materials that costed a lot of money at times and not being able to buy somemore cause I was low on funds. And as for the tarot readings ppl wanted me to go for hours on end and I started charging for that cause it takes quite a bit of energy to do tarot at times and they always wanted more detail then the tarot provided.

Do people frequently ask you to cast spells and such during tarot readings? I mean I thought the general public was like "OOOHHHH, YOU'RE THE DEVIL'S HENCHMEN" and etc about witchcraft. Some people even think Tarot is bad if I recall..

I don't charge because I'm not very good... until I can provide exact details (names of people, locations, events and exact times,) I can't be confident enough to go professional... this is because I have heard some awful stories from one or two friends who are tarot enthusiasts, about clients going, "Nothing you said was true, you fraud I want my money back." which is hard to prove or disprove when card meanings are given vaguely.

On the other hand, even psychics need to eat -- tarot reading is a skill, so like any other skill so why shouldn't a qualified professional reap the benefits? Charging for readings I think also discourages the attachment some people form to the image of a Wise Oracle... if they stop making their own decisions and just ask tarot readers what they should do, it can't be karmically good like Clement said. If they have to pay for it, at least they're pressured to be more independent.

$10/hour sounds like a good rate to me too. I started out learning from Maria Shaw's tarot book, and while she takes tarot reading with appropriate spiritual seriousness, she wrote about how she charged $10 for ten minutes just starting out. But what if you charge by spread instead of time? Say, $10.50 for a Gypsy spread, $5 for a Celtic Cross, $11 for a Romani Star, $6 for an astrology spread... $0.10 for every clarifier or timer? This way the embarrassment of overtime charge can be avoided and you can even mail the readings if the client can pay but can't make the time.

I heard Oracle Card readings were getting much more popular, because they don't have cards like "Death", "The Tower" or "the Devil" But then you get readers who professionally draw the card and read the meaning aloud from the booklet :-P

Well I still need my book, I'm just really, really accurate and good at connecting to people, even at a distance. Also, as far as I've known, Tarot doesn't give EXACT details. Maybe I am totally wrong and I am missing something completely.
I usually use my pendulum for exact details, picking out each letter/number individually. This takes time, but I have literally never been wrong with my pendulum and it offers people the info they need.

I also do runes- Scrying and divinatory stuff are just my thing lol. Like I said, I do still need my book, but somehow I think that'd be better because then the person I am doing the reading for can see the definition for themselves, and that I am not just pulling it out of my nether regions.

IMO the true skill of a tarot reader comes from their connection to the cards, connection to the 'spirits' that govern the cards (everyone has a different name or explanation for these), and ability to relate the reading to the person getting it. Not who can memorize the most card meanings.

As far as Oracles, I don't have an Oracle deck yet... No metaphysical stores near my house, I only get to go to the one like 2hr away once or twice a year, and I hate ordering online. Metaphysical stores online are usually small individual-run practices that take weeks to mail anything out, and take off massively more than they can chew with hundreds/thousands of items.

Well the ppl I did tarot readings for were friends or neighbors of those friends and it was usually the friends wanting the spells..love spells to be exact. I always had to suggest another course of action cause I don't do love spells. I will do them to attract a person with the qualities they want but they wanted a specific person. Also am pretty dang accurate when it comes to my readings. I am wrong very rarely. I have always been good at reading people so when they ask me about someone and if the tarot can't give any more information about they want to know I always asked them to let me physcially see the person then I could answer their question. Never failed me yet. One of my friends almost had a canary cause I told her yes about something and she didn't believe me till it happened. Not many people where I live now though care to have one of my tarot readings cause well I don't know a lot of people and I usually have to get them to get to know me before I even tell them of my religious beliefs.
