'Love' is a mere by-product of natural selection. When animals developed sexuality, love came into play, adding extra incentive to reproduce and continue the species.
As for love being magical...

Unconditional love a mother feels for her child.
Love one feels for their parents or siblings.
love/passion for something such as reading, painting, drawing etc.
Then there is the love that is shared between two people, be it opposite sexes or not (Depending on one's preference)The kind of love that has it's up's and down's,where you take the good times along with the bad times but still manage to hold onto it.You laugh together , cry together, share your deepest desires, respect each other, compromise etc.
On the concept of finding one's true soul mate , I think every one has a true soul mate,some might search a life time for this kind of love and never meet that special one or some may find it straight away.
I believe I have found my true soul love in my hubby :D
Love is the appreciation of what surrounds another individual.
When you love someone, you enjoy how you are when you're around them.
When you love someone, you enjoy the atmosphere they create.
When you love someone, you enjoy their happiness as they share it with you.
Love does not have to be between opposite sexes, it doesn't have to contain romance, or intimacy...
Love is just one person feeling the joys of another's existence.
Like a child and its mother, or a dog and its master.

I don't think Love is magical but i do think love has magical evidence. I spoke to someone who once told me that they have seen a cord connecting her and her husband when she was meditating...i think that cord was created because they both have inspired each others life so much that it connected there souls...In all honestly I don't know of this; I have never loved in such a way, but if there is such a love like that I think It would be awesome...
