Nicholas Flamel

Okay, yeah, I know. Most of us (or at least me) heard of this guy from reading Harry Potter but he was a real person. A french alchemist who was said to have discovered the "philosophers stone" Similar to Harry Potters "sorcerers Stone")which had the properties for eternal life. As most of us know, many stones have different corresponding properties but could there be one that gave immortality? My hypothesis is that the philosophers stone is not a natural compound, but a composite, made of elements such as emeralds for extended life or some other stones. Not only that, there must have been some powerful enchantments to give the user immortality. Those enchantments would have been extremely powerful, read from a book most likely with the position of the Necronomicon. I haven't stumbled upon any information stating that Flamel was an Occultist or Pagan, but I believe he most likely was. If he did create a Immortality stone, he should still be alive to this day. What do you think?

I think it's just another fairy tale.

Yeah, he was just a guy who knew more than the rest. These people are often boosted with misticism through BS writers.

Don't believe everything you read.
I agree with Dzenerika - myths and legends.

To every myth there is an ounce of truth.
The myths may not be precise,
but it doesn't hurt to look and learn.

To anyone wanting to read the books Raven pointed out, a link.

Three books have been published so far, several more are being written. I've been getting them as he publishes them. They aren't very realistic on a number of levels, but they are greatly written and very good entertainment.

Thanks, and did anyone know Newton was also a alchemist? I think he tried finding the philosopher's stone as well. But if the person mentioned in this thread IS alive, then he most likely knows how to obtain the philosopher's stone, or he has it all to himself. But we can never know for sure. And the philospher's stone not only grants immortality, it grants anything and everything. For example, changing any metal to gold. So for all we know, he could have used this power to change everything.

Blood, from what I understand the 'anything' attribute was added in various entertainment fairy tales. The original myth was that the philosopher's stone granted health and long life(immortality) although I admit I have not done much research on this. I mostly just read the books mentioned. I've been to busy with other tasks and projects to start any more research on the myths Nicholas Flamel.

I do know, thanks to those books, that if you go to France you can find the home of Nicholas Flamel kept, for the most part, exactly as it was when he lived there except for one major change. It is now a restaurant and open to the public.
